Rest Is Part of the Work
Earlier this summer, I shared a post called A Summer of Building Community Infrastructure and laid out an ambitious season of gatherings, projects, and opportunities to strengthen the community connections we've been building through the Queen City Resiliency Salon.
Life, however, has a way of changing our plans.
Right now, both I and my faithful companion, Princess Aurora, are recovering from injuries that are taking longer than expected to heal. As much as I would love to be everywhere and do everything I had envisioned, the most important work before me is healing, resting, and making sure Aurora gets the care she needs as well.
This pause doesn't change my commitment to the ideas, relationships, and projects that have emerged from the Queen City Resiliency Salon. If anything, it reminds me that resilience begins with caring for ourselves and those who depend on us. Community infrastructure is not only what we build together in public; it is also how we sustain one another through difficult seasons.
So for now, I'm stepping back, slowing down, and focusing on recovery. The work is not ending, it is simply resting for a moment.
Thank you to everyone who has offered encouragement, support, and patience. I look forward to rejoining you later this summer and helping close out the season strong.
Until then, Princess Aurora and I will be focusing on healing.
